Notary Public Swearing In (8:00 am-4:30 pm)
In order to swear in as a notary public at the Register of Deeds office you must first go through the training and receive a commission letter from the NC Secretary of State. Only after receiving the oath notification letter the Notary has 45 day from the date stated on that letter to come into the Register of Deeds and pay $10 (cash small fee to use card) to take the oath. Your certificate will be issued to you on the spot after the oath and the fee is paid. NOTE: We WILL NOT issue notary oaths after 4:30 pm as this is our recording cutoff time.
