The Craven County Register of Deeds has marriage records as far back as 1908. Before 1908 marriages were recorded as Bonds. Marriage Bonds are housed in the NC State Archive and the Bond Indexes are housed here in the Craven County Register of Deeds office. More info below. Before bonds most families would record marriages in family Bibles. To search the vital record index Click Here.
Married in NC
Married After 2005
Marriage licenses are housed in the county from which they were issued. After 2005 the state of NC changed the rules to allow you to get your license issued out of any county and get married out of any other county as long as the license was returned to the county of issuance. This means a couple could, for example, live in Charlotte (Mecklenburg County), get their license in Raleigh (Wake County), and get married in Asheville (Buncombe County).

Married Before 2005
Marriage licenses are housed in the county from which they were issued. Before 2005 the County in which the license was issued in is the same county in which you were to be married. So if you were married in Craven your license should be housed in Craven.

You will need to contact whichever local or state entity that issues vital records. Click here to look for the various state vital record organizations.
NOTE:
This site can help you find the state organization that issues the vital records. It is generally advised that you find the most local agency (i.e. county or city rather than state) in order to get the quickest service. Not always, but most of the state vital records organizations can take months to get a certificate whereas most of the local governments are much quicker.
