Fares

The fare for one trip on the fixed route service is $1. The fare for Jones County and Pamlico County residents is $2 per trip.  The fare for subscription or demand response trips varies based on distance unless otherwise specified for a specific group.  Examples of specific groups include, but may not be limited to, non-life necessity trips for the elderly or disabled; half fare on Omnibus; and transportation expenses otherwise covered by a third party. When scheduling you will be informed what the per trip fare will be.

Update effective January 1, 2022: EDTAP will cover the cost of the half price fare for those passengers approved for EDTAP funding prior to boarding.

The Half Price Fare Policy (PDF) was approved by the Craven County Board of Commissioners September 8, 2015 and is intended to establish a baseline for compliance with Federal law regarding half price fares as applicable to the CARTS Fixed Route System. Individuals that qualify for half price fare include those with disabilities, those age 65 and older, or those with an valid Medicare card. Eligibility is verified.
