The Medical Records Department consists of several essential units, including the switchboard, appointment desk, document scanners and vital records.
Vital Records handles the processing of birth and death certificates. Affidavits of parentage, and green burials. Official hard copies of birth and death certificates can be obtained through the Craven County Register of Deeds.
Medical records may be requested by the patient, a parent or legal guardian(in the case of minors), or a personal representative who provides proper authorization or legal documentation. There is a fee associated with obtaining medical records. Payment is made prior to the release of the documents. The cost is $10 for the first 20 pages and .25 for each page after. Requests are normally processed within 48 hours.
