Disability is a tax-free monetary benefit paid to Veterans with disabilities resulting from disease or injury incurred or aggravated during active military service. Compensation may also be available for post-service disabilities considered related or secondary to disabilities occurring in service or related to circumstances of military service. Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC)
Generally payable to a surviving spouse or child of a Servicemember who died while on active duty, active or inactive duty for training, or from service-connected disabilities, DIC is a tax-free monetary benefit.
