Store your medications safely, away from children or others who could take your medicine. This may mean locking your medications in a safe or other secure location.

  • DO NOT throw medicines in the trash.
  • DO NOT flush down the sink or toilet.
  • DO NOT allow anyone else to take your medicine.
  • DO dispose of medicines by using an approved medication disposal pouch.
  • DO dispose of medicine by dropping them in a medication drop box.
  • The latest statistics show that the number of unintentional poisoning deaths in North Carolina increased more than 550 percent, from 279 deaths in 1999 to 1,822 deaths in 2016.
  • Craven County residents are encouraged to protect their families and the community by safely disposing of unused or expired medications at one of the medication drop box locations.
