Chris Mullis has been selected as Craven County’s new Water Services Director. Mullis most recently served as the Water Utilities Director for Georgetown, S.C., since August of 2023.
Mullis has 12 years of experience in water treatment and holds a Grade 1 Physical/Chemical Wastewater License, an A-Distribution Certification, a C-Well Certification, and a C-Surface Certification issued by the North Carolina Water Treatment Facility Operators Certification Board.
Prior to Georgetown, S.C., Mullis worked in a variety of roles in Ansonville, N.C., Anson County, N.C., and Union County, N.C. Water treatment has been part of Mullis’ life for a long time, with both his parents working in the industry.
“With experience at all levels across both North and South Carolina, Chris was just the person we were looking for to fill this important leadership role. I am excited to have Chris join Team Craven and am confident that his skill set will be beneficial to Craven County’s water customers,” stated Jack B. Veit, III, Craven County Manager.
The Craven County Water Department serves over 38,000 customers with roughly 15,000 connections. The Department oversees 675 miles of water mains, 9 elevated storage tanks, 13 well sites, and a Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Plant.
