Stormwater
As of July 1, 2024, Craven County has taken over the Neuse Stormwater Rules from the North Carolina Division of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) and will implement its own stormwater program. The Stormwater Ordinance for Nutrient Control will apply to all qualifying new projects within the unincorporated areas of Craven County. This includes all regulated activities associated with the discharge of stormwater. NCDEQ will continue to monitor and be the regulating authority for permits prior to July 1, 2024.
All necessary ordinances, permits, and other documents such as the Stormwater Ordinance for Nutrient Control, permit applications, checklists, stormwater data sheets, operation and maintenance, deed restrictions, stormwater control measures (SCM) inspection report, stormwater submittal package requirement forms, and fee schedules are available on this website for your use.
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the Craven County Stormwater Ordinance. We also encourage a pre-development meeting with the Craven County Stormwater Administrator if you will be submitting a stormwater permit application. The rules being implemented by Craven County are very similar to the rules and regulations utilized by NCDEQ, so we envision this transition becoming familiar to our development community and hopefully making it more convenient for you to seek stormwater permits locally. We look forward to working with you to develop your future plans.
