Public Hearing for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Funding Application
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
RELATIVE TO APPLICATION
BY CRAVEN COUNTY
FOR FUNDING UNDER THE HOUSING AND COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1974, AS AMENDED
Notice is hereby given that the Craven County Board of Commissioners will conduct a public hearing on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as the agenda will allow, in the County Commissioners Meeting Room at the Craven County Administration Building, 406 Craven Street, New Bern, NC, in relation to Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for a project in the community.
Craven County will submit a CDBG-Economic Development (CDBG-ED) application to the NC Department of Commerce for funds to assist with site and infrastructure improvements that will lead to job creation. Citizens will also be given the opportunity to provide oral and written comments on the County’s use of CDBG funds. All interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
The proposed budget includes the following road and infrastructure improvements related to CDBG activities:
Road & Infrastructure Improvements $2,193,700
Program Administration $ 263,300
Total Project Budget $2,457,000
The County will minimize displacement to the extent practicable and will comply fully with the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act (URA) and its implementing regulations for any CDBG-funded public services activity involving acquisition or displacement. Any acquisition or displacement resulting from the project will be conducted in accordance with federal relocation requirements to ensure fair treatment and protection of affected persons and businesses.
