The Craven-Pamlico Animal Services Center will resume normal operations and animal capacity effective 12:00 p.m. on April 26, 2018. The Craven-Pamlico Animal Service Center underwent a four-month renovation period along with the construction of an expansion to the existing center and renovations are nearly complete.
A temporary reduction in the quantity of animals the shelter could house was put in place during the renovation period and citizens were asked to limit their surrendering of animals, especially cats and kittens, but the center is now able to resume normal capacity. Owned animal euthanasia services will also resume.
The public operations of the Craven-Pamlico Animal Services Center are still temporarily being conducted in the newly expanded portion of the facility as final renovations are completed. Visitors should be on the lookout for signage to indicate the temporary entrance.
The public entrance to the facility parking lot has changed from its regular location off of Old Airport Road to another location off of Old Airport Road to provide citizens access to the newly constructed portion of the facility. The temporary entrance is clearly marked and the old entrance is blocked off. The Craven-Pamlico Animal Services Center is located at 1639 Old Airport Road in New Bern.
Citizens with special needs or requiring Americans with Disability Act accommodations will need to call the Craven-Pamlico Animal Services Center prior to arrival to arrange for assistance to access the temporary facility entrance.
The modifications to the Craven-Pamlico Animal Services Center allow the center to accommodate more animals and will improve customer service to enhance the adoption process. A grand opening of the facility will take place at a later date once renovations are complete.
