Pursuant to N.C. Gen. Stat. § 158-7.1, the Craven County (hereinafter “County”) Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing to seek public input on (a) a grant agreement giving cash payments to a new industry; (b) County’s participation on behalf of a new industry in the One North Carolina Fund cash-grant program administered by the State of North Carolina; and (c) County’s participation on behalf of a new industry in the Building Reuse grant program administered by the State of North Carolina. County intends (i) to provide a cash economic development incentive for a new industry, including the authorization of the use of County funds for same and the execution and delivery of necessary documents for same, and (ii) to authorize participation in both of the aforesaid grant programs, including the authorization of the use of County matching funds for same and the execution and delivery of necessary documents for both grant programs.
Company intends to renovate and improve an existing, privately-owned industrial facility in the Craven County Industrial Park by adding office space, installing two industrial cranes, and making various other improvements to support its manufacturing operation. Craven County will contribute funds to offset the cost to upgrade the electrical service to the facility. Company expects to spend approximately $450,000 to improve the facility. The County will use its Economic Development Reserve to provide the Grant to the Company. The County believes the proposed economic development incentive will stimulate the local economy, attract business and industry to County, result in the creation of a substantial number of new permanent jobs in the county, and result in increased tax revenues to the County. Anyone who is interested can inspect the (draft) documents available at the Economic Development offices in the Craven County Administration Building or online.
The Craven County Board of Commissioners will hold a public hearing on these matters at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in the Commissioners’ room in the Craven County Administration Building, and all interested persons are invited to attend and present their views.
Nan Holton
Clerk, Craven County Board of Commissioners
