"Your Home Town Hospice For Over 40 Years"

Celebrating More Than 40 years Caring for Craven, Jones, Carteret, Lenoir and Pamlico Counties

A Message from the Director of Craven County Hospice

Thank you so much for your support of Craven County Hospice. For over 40 years, we have been providing quality end of life care to the residents of Craven and adjoining counties. Our mission has always been the same: To provide the very best care to anyone facing a “life limiting illness or condition,” to provide pain and symptom management for the patient and help to the family which enables them to keep their lived one in their home. We plan to be part of the health care landscape for many years to come. Thank you in advance for your continued support as we move toward the future of end-of-life care here in the New Bern and Craven County area. When your Physician determines that Hospice is the best course of treatment for your illness or condition, we cannot change the outcome, but we can change the experience. There might not be a “magic” or even “supernatural” (depending on your belief system) cure or healing, but we are here, to provide your family an extra support mechanism so you or your loved one may live their last days in the one place most people prefer to spend their last days: Their Home. We concentrate our efforts in our very own Craven County, which enhances continuity of care and quality. We are here to comfort, guide and support.

CMS has recently updated the Hospice Quality Rating Information. If you would like to see how we are doing in terms of “quality care,” go the Hospice Compare Website.

https://www.medicare.gov/hospicecompare/

You can search by zip code (28560) and compare up to three Hospice providers. You will find our Hospice statistically scores higher than the other hospices in our service area. The most telling is the score for “Would you recommend this Hospice to your friends and family.” If you search the site and have questions, please don’t hesitate to give me a call.

“You Matter because you are you. You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can, not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die.” These are the words of Dame Cecily Saunders who is credited with being the Founder of the Present Day Hospice Care Movement. Her words summarize the mission of Craven County Hospice.

Here’s to making every moment count! Be sure to ask for us by name, CRAVEN COUNTY HOSPICE. We are YOUR Hometown Hospice!

Clayton Gaskins, Craven County Hospice Director
