About the Clerk

The Clerk of Superior Court is an elected judicial official and holds office for a four-year term. In North Carolina, the Clerk serves as director of the office and also as Ex Officio Judge of Probate. In this capacity the Clerk has original and exclusive jurisdiction over the administration of the estates of decedents, minors, and incompetent adults.

The Clerk also serves as custodian of court records and is responsible for maintaining and preserving those records. The Clerk of Superior Court proudly serves the citizens of Craven County, leading an office team and cultivating positive relationships in the community.
