The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for all computer and Voice over IP (VOIP) technology for Craven County Government. The IT staff work with other County Departments and agencies in determining their technology needs and provide assistance and on-going support in the use of those technologies to provide services to the public as efficiently as possible.
Technology items include hardware and software acquisition and support, infrastructure design and installation, networking services, website development and usages, e-mail and internet services, system analysis and design, programming services, equipment troubleshooting and repairs, telephone support for VOIP phones, training and help desk support to employees.
The IT Department maintains the County's primary computer system, an IBM iSeries, which houses most of the mission critical applications for Craven County. This system supports over 600 workstations connected across the County network. Also supported are approximately 15 Windows based servers in various locations that store data files and provide other functions for County employees.
Seven full-time employees providing 24x7 support currently staff the IT Department.
