Craven County...A Brief History |
Craven County bears the name of William, Earl of Craven, one of the eight original Lord Proprietors of the province of Carolina, and his nephew, William, Lord Craven, who succeeded him as Lord Proprietor. Established in 1712, Craven County was the site of North Carolina's first capital, New Bern. For more details, go to the history page.
